Features of the Digitus system
Two-part architecture – immune to attack at door
Every Digitus unit includes two primary components:
• A fingerprint reader with keypad for placement outside a door, typically wall-mounted.
• The controller, placed inside the secure area. The controller provides wired connections to the fingerprint reader, to the secured door’s electric lock and to the network if applicable.
Because the exterior fingerprint reader has no connection to the electric door lock, a would-be intruder cannot clip the wires and spoof the connection into opening the door – unlike single-unit solutions with intelligence outside the door.
Fingerprint identity – simple to administer
Upon user enrollment, the Digitus fingerprint reader creates a multi-point schematic of the user’s biometric fingerprint profile, which it stores as a 512-byte fingerprint template. This template will be matched to the user’s live fingerprint each time that user seeks to gain access. The system does not store fingerprint images, and the biometric template cannot be used to create an image of the original fingerprint.
Completely accurate identification – no card or key to lose
To gain access via the Digitus system, a user enters a PIN and places a finger on the fingerprint reader. The PIN identifies the user for fingerprint matching so that the entire database of up to 900 fingerprint templates needn’t be searched. If the fingerprint data perfectly matches the stored fingerprint template, the controller instructs the electric lock strike to open, and logs the date/time of the user entry.
Available networked or standalone
The Digitus system be can installed as a networked solution with centralized management and control, or as a standalone solution operating in isolation. Because the networked version adds TCP/IP connectivity to the controller, security administrators can enroll users to those units or gather reports from them from anywhere in the world. TCP/IP links with networked installations employ Digitus’ proprietary code hopping encryption protocol.
Integration with existing access control systems when required
While the Digitus system can function as a fully self-contained system, it is equally adept at interoperating with existing equipment, and therefore protecting existing investments, while providing an upgrade to biometric fingerprint recognition.
